Conceal Carry Law

Ohio concealed carry law has been amended as Senate Bill 199 takes effective today, March 21, 2017. Changes to the law will allow anyone with a concealed carry license to carry their firearm in more places, including daycare facilities, non-secure areas of airports, and private planes. The changes also prohibit employers from telling an employee that they cannot store their guns and bullets in their car while at work. The law will still prohibit concealed carry on college campuses, but colleges themselves will now be allowed to authorize people or groups to carry weapons on campus.

Private daycare centers will still be able to prohibit concealed carry by posting a “No Gun” sign. Other changes to the law allow concealed carry permit holders in school zones to exit their vehicles as long as their hand gun remains locked inside the vehicle; the law authorizes certain children crisis care facilities to maintain firearms; and allowes active duty members of the military to forego getting a concealed handgun license as long as they care valid military ID and can provide documentation of firearms training.
